The Ventura Film Festival was established in 2004 and has screened hundreds of films, typically more than 200 films every summer, and has drawn recognition from the worldwide filmmaking community. The Ventura Film Festival's founder and executive director was invited to join, along with many of Hollywood's top stars, in the 50-year anniversary event of West Side Story and Hollywood's prestigious footprint/handprint ceremony honoring Oscar winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, along with Golden Globe recipient Russ Tamblyn at the historic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This celebration also functioned as the official BluRay introduction by Fox and MGM of the beloved West Side Story, which is broadly regarded by critics and fans as the finest musical of all time.
